Gastronomic Madrid

A Gastronomic Party

Madrid is once again becoming a great feast of the senses thanks to the Gastrofestival 2020, which is eleven years old on 2020. Indeed, each year this meeting is the best way to approach Spanish gastronomy and take advantage of its links with different regions of Spain. A festival with an extended program with the presence of more than 500 establishments and institutions. It lasts 16 days and highlights the gastronomic offer in Madrid and Spain. It explores the union between the culinary arts and artistic disciplines such as painting, literature, music, cinema, theater, photography, design or fashion.

Beyond a festival dedicated to gastronomy, it is an artistic and cultural festival.

The Program

The program 2020, which contains its usual thematic blocks (Madrid Gastronómico, Gastrocultura, Sensory experiences, Enoculture, Gastrofashion, Gastrosalud and Gastrofestival Solidario). In 2020 he paid tribute to the writer Benito Pérez Galdós for the centenary of his death. Indeed, you can travel back in time by rediscovering the work of Galdós whose most important protagonists are Madrid and its gastronomy. The three-course gastro-literary menu will be traditional, served by the writer José Esteban, author of “La Cocina en Galdós y otras noticias literario-gastronómicas” and prepared by the chef Enrique Sierra.

Activities in restaurants, markets and other gastronomic spaces

In fact, as in previous editions, the restaurants, cocktail bars, cooking schools, markets, gastronomy shops, museums, art galleries or fashion boutiques of the city of Madrid will enhance the gastronomic offer of Madrid. They will pay homage to gastronomy from arts disciplines such as painting, literature, music, cinema, theater, photography, design or fashion. Under the auspices of Madrid Gastronómico, and in addition to the innovative Gastrofestival Collection, you will be able to enjoy experiences such as five-star menus (special menus between 25 and 40 euros). Degustatapas (lid and bottle Mahou to 3 euros). Our favorite bars with Rioja (tapa and Rioja wine for 3 euros), Gastrobocatas (sandwiches design), four-course dinners (a mix of talents in which Spanish chefs open their kitchens to great international new chefs). Or cooking classics of Madrid with symbolic cities (exclusive menus at La Tasquita de Enfrente, Las Tortillas de Gabino or Viavélez) and proposals for cocktails or routes and shops (Golosa route, breakfast in …, cooking schools, coffee route and gourmet shops).

Gastronomic Experiences

Also the markets of Madrid will return with all kinds of activities, such as gastronomic workshops, courses, tastings, agreements, tastings, special menus and other gastronomic experiences. To explore the healthiest aspects of gastronomy, the Gastrosalud section will include healthy traditional menus and a list of restaurants suitable for celiacs. As well in this edition, the Institute of Food Science and Nutrition (ICTAN) will hold workshops on products and components such as coffee, oil, fiber, water and chocolate. Solidarity and cuisine will be at the Gastrofestival Solidario, which involves several restaurants committed to the NGO Action Against Hunger to create a world based on food for all.
